Slash your costs this fall with text book rentals

It is that time again, we are headed back to school, and along with that comes the ever present cost of getting prepared to begin another successful school year.  Of the most important tools that we will need is our books, for without them how are we to learn what it is we are expected to know.  While this is a necessary expense, it doesn't have to be a major one.  According to the Student Public Interest Research Group (SPIRG), college textbook prices have soured more than four times the rate of inflation.  Coupled with the high cost of a college education this can discourage many folks from continuing their education.  However there is a way to reduce the amount spent on college textbooks that many young students overlook or for some other reason tend to not take advantage of.  This is textbook rental.  Renting textbooks in the past would be a pretty difficult feat without knowing exactly which books that you would need until a week or two before your classes began, but as of July 1, 2010 federal law states that at the time of registration students will be supplied with a list of all course materials, which includes any books that you will need.  This alone make it much easier to find the books that you will need at a much lower price than is offered at most college bookstores.  Renting textbooks is not a new concept, it has been around for some time and many different places that offer textbook rentals,  but now that it is so much easier why would you not do it?  There are some rules that apply to renting textbooks and they vary among the different sources available to rent from but many of them are universal.  Some things we will look at among the different rental sources is the length of the rentals, how quickly you can have your books arrive, policies about highlighting or writing in book, who pays for shipping and if there are any additional fees.  We have reviewed 5 different online sources that offer the best deals on textbook rental and here is what we found.
